How to Get Certified:

There are currently 3 levels of the Running Technique Coach (Level 1 & 2) and Advanced Running Technique Coach (Level 3) Certification available online with more to come.

  1. Running Technique Coach – RTC

Training is delivered entirely online. You will follow the online presentations and videos and then carry out the practical coaching tutorials. You work in your own time and complete the online education within 8 weeks. You will need to work with an individual or group of runners during the practical coaching. To receive your Running Technique Coach or Advanced Running Technique Coach Certification you have to:
a) Complete the training within the 8 weeks
b) Answer an online questionnaire and receive a pass mark
c) Submit a 10-15 minute video of you coaching an individual or group of runners displaying the knowledge you have learned in the course on Running Technique

When you have passed the practical and written assessments you will receive a certificate and a badge you can display online.

Once you have completed your 50 coaching hours (you have 3 months to complete the hours after successfully passing your practical) you will be listed on our website as a Running Technique Coach, with your location and contact details. For the Advanced Running Technique Coach, you will have to complete 100 hours of coaching after you have completed the assessments. The practical coaching hours are the most important part of your training. The knowledge and theory you gain will be consolidated and enhanced through practical experience. It is the coaching process that helps you develop the observation expertise to coach individuals and groups and know what changes you need to make.

  1. Advanced Running Technique Coach -ARTC

The ARTC (Level 3) courses combine both theory and practical coaching sessions, where you will coach a group of runners. To receive your certification, you are required to complete the entirety of the course, pass the theory practical coaching assessment this will be a 20 min Video of you coaching and correcting runners

Once certified you will receive a certificate and a badge you can display online.

Once you have completed your 100 coaching hours you will be listed on our website as a Running Technique Coach Level 3 with your location and contact details. You have six months to complete the 100 coaching hours.

Progress with The Running School

The highest certification you can achieve with The Running School is to become a Certified Running Technique Specialist. Below is the coaching pathway from Running Technique Coach (Level 1 & 2) through to Certified Running Technique Specialist.
